Natural Clear Quartz Crystal

Metaphysical Lore suggests Quartz Crystal (Clear, not Coloured) is a power stone that harmonizes and balances.

That it enhances energy and thoughts, and purifies the spiritual, mental, and physical.

It is said to be a powerfully protective stone, bringing the purified energy in.

Historically this crystal has been used to counter black magic, to perform diagnostic healing, and to communicate with spirits and other worlds.

Clear quartz, as opposed to coloured quartz, is associated with the crown chakra, but also works well on all chakras.

Copper Beads and Jewellery Pieces

Copper jewelelry has been worn by some of the oldest civilizations on record - it is said a pendant was uncovered in the Middle East dating back to 8700 B.C. As with all copper, natural antiquing may occur over time. This changing patina increases the allure.

The following pieces are some of my designs that use copper.

COPPER FALLS Necklace

A small Agate focal, Stick Pearls and Czech pressed and faceted glass are highlighted with copper chain, connectors and beads. Swarovski Pearls in chocolate and Greens add another dimension to the design and bring out the colours in the Czech glass. Strand length is approx 88.5cm for shortest and 106cm for longest. Claspless

BE HAPPY Bracelet

Celebrate, laugh, give, dance, wishes and happy are written on the resin charms. Copper chain, wire wrapped links and a toggle clasp make up this approx 17cm long fun bracelet.

LISA Necklace

This versatile necklace can be dressed up or down depending on your needs. 2 strands of linked copper chain drape from hammered oval links. Each strand is highlighted with flat stamped diamond shaped beads. The necklace is finished with a strand of copper belcher chain and a lobster clasp. These strands measure approx 51.5cm - 55cm.

LOGAN Bracelet

Beautiful transparent green glass cover a core of multi-coloured foil. These beads are highlighted with open copper basket style beadcaps and separated by copper flower shaped discs. The bracelet is finished with a leaf toggle clasp and is approx 20.5cm long

CASSEY Necklace

1.0mm to 2.3mm dyed Magnesite wheels are wrapped with copper wire and dangle from copper chain. Necklace length is approx 49cm up to 52.5 with the extension chain. Longest dangle is approx 4.75cm long This piece has lots of movement and texture.

ACANTHA Necklace

Unakite chips are highlighted with raw copper spacers. This strand is attached to the 3 carved bone linked elephant chain by copper wire wrapped loops. The colours of the Unakite pick up the etched blanket design on the back of each elephant, while the copper colour echoes the deep salmon in the gemstones. Total length is approx 57cm and is finished with a magnetic clasp. Clasp and findings are copper.

Tomorrow, Sunday 6th May, I will be at the Canning Bridge Art Markets, Kishorn Road, Applecross from 9am to 3pm. You can find me in Stall No 13.

New Designs for April

I have finally had time to write the descriptions, price and load these designs onto the website. Sometimes this part of the process takes longer than designing and making the actual piece.....

ADELL

Assorted white fibres, 4mm Opalite rounds and AB Opal Matt Czech fire-polished glass beads weave through 2 x approx 30mm donuts (Opalite / Sea Opal) and 1 x approx 25mm Quartz donut.

2 x 8mm very pale Rose Quartz faceted rounds gather the beaded strands just prior to the beadcones.

The back of the necklace is made of a single strand of Opalite beads using 6mm, 4mm and 2mm Czech beads as highlights and is finished with a pearl enhanced round box clasp. Findings including crimp covers, wire guardians and clasp are silver-plated. Approx 43cm long.

JILL

Seamless silver foil-lined Aqua glass links totalling approx 11.5 x 3cm are supported by 5 x approx 2mm silver foil-lined glass puffed discs.

Three of these beads are highlighted by 5 x 8mm round Turquoise Blue Czech glass beads and silver scalloped beadcaps.

Hammered chain joins all components of the design together and are wire-wrapped onto the glass links.

BERNICE

3 strands of tiny 2mm assorted Semi Precious Gemstones are highlighted by approx 3mm Turquoise Howlite round beads and gold-plated floral connectors and findings.

Total length is approx 19.5cm and is finished with a parrot clasp.

KARINA

4 x Aqua blue and 3 x Clear 30x17mm Marquise cut crystals are separated by clear crystal bicones.

The 3 clear Marquise drops are wire wrapped and highlighted with Swarovski crystals in 3mm round faceted Aquamarine, 3mm faceted round Indicolite and 4mm faceted bicone Aqua AB.

These same beads are scattered around the necklace and the design is finished with a puffed square box clasp. This clasp features a safety latch.

The total length is approx 41cm and findings including crimp covers, wire guardians and jumprings are silver-plated.

These are just some of the new designs I listed last night on my Store.

Lampworked Glass Beads

Lampworking is an ancient art form that is growing in popularity.

Similar to glass-blowing artists, lampwork artisans create glass beads using fire and tools. These vibrant lampworked glass beads show off intriguing patterns and colours.

I have recently received an order from one of my suppliers which includes some wonderful lampworked glass beads that I will be incorporating into my upcoming designs.

These pictures show some of the beads included in that order.

The white oval bead above is the most delightful translucent colour with a pattern that reminds me of a peacock feather.

The brown striped beads and the cream & black beads with red swirls are opaque.

The pattern on the blue bead offers so many design opportunities and colour matching choices.

The same applies to this Topaz and teal bead. It is transparent with an opaque pattern. I just love it. It is even better in real life than I imagined it to be when I ordered it.

Due to their handcrafted nature, no two beads are exactly alike, which suits me just fine as none of my designs are the same.

I cant wait to start using these beads and showing you the designs I come up with.

I will be at the Canning Arts Group Gala Daythis Sunday, the 22nd April.

This event runs from 10am to 4pm at the Corner of Riley and High Roads in Riverton. It is just opposite the Riverton Forum Shopping Centre. There is plenty of parking and lots of interesting stalls for the whole family.

I hope you have all had a wonderful Easter.

We had our son, partner and children here for dinner on Good Friday and then the Grandkids stayed over for the night and went home around 10.30 on Saturday.

As Barney has worked 12 hour shifts on the wharf all weekend, (and I dont have a car at present) I have had plenty of time to myself to do "my things".

The evenings and mornings have been delightful and I have had a couple of lovely walks. Got some baking done and the freezer is full of meals for those nights I just dont have the time (or inclination) to do any cooking. And most importantly - I have had time to work on some new designs.

These individually handmade porcelain hearts are made in Australia by Robyn Allen Waters and I purchased them in Wollongong when we were over East last year. Silver butterflies and findings are added to one set while the other has Peridot Swarovski crystals and gold findings. Although the hearts are quite large, they are very light.

I have paired this set of 3 carved linked elephants with raw copper wire and findings and Unakite gemstone chips. The stone picks up the colours of the blankets on the back of each elephant and the copper echoes the deep salmon colour within the chips. This design is finished with a magnetic clasp.

This design is like soup for the soul with a range of metaphysical benefits. Comprising mostly of Moonstone chips, this necklace uses a variety of gemstones, including, but not limited to Sodalite, Aventurine, Amethyst, Rainbow Fluorite.

3 x faceted cubes are separated by brass spacers and highlighted with gemstone discs and rounds from which 3 strands of Moonstone and other assorted gemstone chips fall.

On the other side these strands weave through shield shaped gemstones highlighted with brass beads and are caught into one strand again at a junction of 3 brass tyre shaped spacer beads. This design is claspless.

These are some of my recent designs. Now I just have to write up their full descriptions, price them and list them on the website. They can be jobs for another day as I have a couple more items to finish before I tidy up the studio tonight.

Canning Bridge Arts Markets 01.04.12

There was a slight drizzle early on & a little shower, but then the day, although overcast was a beautiful day for the monthly Canning Bridge Arts Markets.

The Canning Bridge Arts Markets are held on the first Sunday of the month at Kishorn Road between Moreau Mews and First Avenue in Applecross, between 9am and 3pm.

Today was only the second month of these delightful markets and of course the numbers of visitors are still building, but today we had repeat visitors from last month and many who had heard of us from visitors to the last months markets.

As word of mouth is generally the best advertising, I am expecting these markets to just keep getting bigger and better.

Musicians and dancers are booked to entertain the crowds at the May 6th markets and as these are the week before Mothers Day, it would be a great chance to visit, present her with a brilliant gift from one of the various stallholders and show your support for local and handcrafted wares.

Two of my favourite pieces found new homes today. To me they represented time - one the past and the other looking into the future.

The natural Amber drop earrings have wonderful inclusions within them. Captured images of time past.

The Rose Quartz and Swarovski Crystal bracelet sends forth wishes of Hope and Love into the future.

The Inaugural Canning Bridge Arts Markets

The opening of, hopefully the long and successful, Canning Bridge Arts Markets was held today. These markets are run by the Rotary Club of Canning Bridge with a grant from the City of Melville on the first Sunday of each Month between 9am and 3pm.

They are held in Kishorn Road, Applecross, between Moreau Mews & First Avenue (near Toscanini’s and opposite Clancy’s adjacent to the pedestrian bridge across Canning Highway).

Come for a wander and relax in these delightful surrounds while picking up some lovely handmade items – including, but not limited to, jewellery, woodwork, metalwork, paintings, printings, books, and giftwares. Have a coffee at Toscanini’s or a sausage sizzle with the Rotarians and be entertained by the musicians or poets.

My stall (No. 22) is just off the main road in the northern carpark under a lovely tree. I plan to make this my “home” for one day each month, so next time pop in and say hello and meet some of my crafty neighbours while you are there.

Blue dyed Agate and orange Czech glass crystal

KRYSTLE

50 x 8mm Turquoise Blue Czech glass rounds and 56 x 4mm Orange Opal Czech Fire-polished faceted glass beads are the supporting act to these beautiful dyed blueAgate oval tubes with flashes of orange in some of them.

Two strands of the Agate beads fall from large Vintaj Brass blossom beadcaps which adds extra drama to the design.

Brass findings and clasp complete this piece which has an inside strand length of approx 67cm and an outside strand length of approx 77cm.

With Tangerine Tango being the Pantone 2012 Colour of the Year, this necklace is right on vogue for the season.

Jamika - Resin Amber Necklace

JAMIKA NECKLACE

Assorted resin Amber shapes are separated by various Czech fire-polished glass beads and Swarovski crystals in green and orange/topaz tones.

Silver plated Peridot and Siam rhinestone rondelles are scatted through the design. The assorted green components add a wonderful contrast while the red of the Siam causes the other colours to pop.

This asymmetrical piece is claspless and measures approx 78.5cm.

TONIE EARRINGS

Approx 15mm cubes of resin Amber is highlighted with green rhinestone rondelles and Czech faceted fire-polished glass. Findings are silver plated. Length is approx 4.5cm.
